Break? If you’re asking, the answer is yes.
“Do you think I should take a break?” is synonymous with “Can I take a break?”
You do not need to ask for anyone’s permission to take a break. Go ahead.
You can rest for as long as you need.
If you are coming back in 5 minutes, by golly, go to the bathroom or get what you need to be comfy again.
If you are coming back in 5 hours? Make sure you save your progress!
If you are coming back in 5 days, you have homework. Please write down where you left off, because our moods can change in that time frame, and sometimes we forget.
If you are coming back in 5 weeks or months, be sure that you have stopped at a good stopping point, because you will be like a new person the next time you sit down.
If you are coming back in 5 years, my first question is, “are you okay?” Because 5 years is a long time, and if you are taking a hard break, like you are putting your IP in a desk drawer and not touching it for 5 years, I want to know if you’re okay. Because that is not normal IP creator behavior.
If it is something like you being a caretaker or spending time with a youngster in their early years, I’d like to suggest that maybe you not take such a long break?
A lot of people lose their momentum. They say they’ll come back, but then they don’t.
Even if you say, “I’ll try to think about my IP once a week,” that may serve you better in the end.
Five years is a long time to be away from your IP. We change a lot in 5 years, and our intentions change with us. Try to stay in touch with your IP a little more often than once every 5 years.
If it happens to be 5 years, then okay. Life happens.
But try not to. For your IP’s sake. For you.
Take a break for a little, and then consider your IP once a week.
