Motivation? You need that. Where’d it go?
Two questions:
- Do you need more public attention?
- Do you need less of it?
As very different types of IP creators, we have different motivations.
If you are very motivated by the public sphere, whether that’s online or in person, have you been getting enough attention? Do you need to move to a different platform or branch off to your own independent website, etc?
If you are motivated by privacy in general, whether that is online or in person, do you have enough alone time with your IP?
The way you are motivated is very important, and sometimes, we change in the middle of our careers, and all of a sudden, I am craving more attention, or all of a sudden, I’m holing up in my home studio.
Check and see which one it is.
Internally, the one question you can ask yourself is:
Have I changed to the point where this IP is not me anymore?
If this is the case, then start considering a new IP for yourself.
If you are a company, the questions remain the same.
Do you need more public attention or less of it?
Have you changed as an organization to the point where this IP is not representative of you anymore?
Once you align yourself back to what you need as an IP creator, which can include switching to a new IP you dream up, you will find your motivation fully present, strong, and able.
